YELLOW FEVER! Savannah’s Epidemic of 1820

Special Program FACT SHEET

Who:  You are invited to attend the living history production of Yellow Fever!:  Savannah’s Epidemic of 1820, presented by performers who portray characters from 1820 Savannah.

What:  Visitors are led on a 50-minute experience throughout the museum property as voyeurs facing the frightful time of pestilence when the city was stricken by an epidemic of unknown cause but what we now know as the mosquito-borne yellow fever.  Performers will convey the fear, apprehension and ambivalence that characterized those who witnessed the deadly disease.

When:  Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30, 7:50, 8:10, 8:30 and 8:50 p.m. – October 2, 3, 9. 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31.   Once the performance has begun no one will be added to the audience.  Late arriving ticket holders will be given the opportunity of being put on the next available tour, which may be later that evening, the next night, or the next weekend. 

Where:  Isaiah Davenport House Museum is located at 324 East State Street, which is at the corner of Habersham and State Streets on Columbia Square in Savannah, GA.

Additionally

à        This is an entirely new production.

à        The entire museum property will be utilized including the garden, attic and Kennedy Pharmacy across the lane from the house.

à        Visitors will experience the historic house by candlelight

à        Veterans Raleigh Marcell, Jamal Tourè and Jeff Freeman will be joined by a new and talented cast

à        The group size for each time slot is limited to 15 people per performance.  Due to the limited number of places, patrons are advised to purchase their tickets in advance.  All ticket sales are non-refundable. 

à        The program is not a haunted house.  Museum rules will apply.

à        Due to the nature of the program, the presentation may not be suitable for those of delicate sensibilities or children 6 years of age or under.

Tickets:  $15 in advance for adults, $10 in advance for children (ages 6-17) and $17 and $15 at the time of the performance.  The program is not appropriate for children under 8 years of age.
