SAVANNAH—The 21st Annual Savannah Black Heritage Festival, produced by the City of Savannah and Savannah State University, has its first-ever commemorative poster that is available for purchase at all festival events.
The commissioned poster, created by Savannah visual artist Ligel Lambert, depicts President Barack Obama, who Lambert describes as a ‘personal hero.’ A limited number of prints signed by the artist are available for $25 while others are $15. Proceeds will benefit the festival.
Lambert is the featured visual artist for the 2010 Savannah Black Heritage Festival. His exhibition is on the second floor gallery of the Beach Institute African American Cultural Center, located 502 East Harris St.
Lambert attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) briefly before joining the United State Marine Corps in December of 2000. After his honorable discharge in 2004, Lambert attended Armstrong Atlantic State University and The International Academy of Design and Technology for graphic design. His energetic fan base includes collectors of the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Capital Jazz Festival, Savannah Jazz Festival, musicians, professional athletes and art connoisseurs.
Our Journey From a Glorious Past is the theme of the 2010 festival, which is the 11th produced by Savannah State University. All festival events are free and open to the public. For additional info, call (912) 351-6320 or visit www.savannahblackheritagefestival.com.
